The big picture for October 2026

The theme is honest reassessment. Venus retrograde asks what you value, whom you trust and what your money and relationships are really built on. It starts in Scorpio, where those questions go deep, and slips back into Libra on October 25. Mercury joins it in the last week, so communication, contracts and plans also come up for revision.

Mars in Leo supplies the energy to act on what you discover. It trines Neptune, opposes Pluto, sextiles Uranus and trines Saturn during the month, so effort pays off when it is focused and patient. Pluto’s direct station on October 16 releases pressure on long-term structural changes.

Week by week

October 1–9: Venus turns retrograde

The month opens with tension: Mercury squares Mars and Pluto on October 2, and Mars trines Neptune that night. Venus stations retrograde on October 3 at 07:16 UTC at 8°29′ Scorpio, and Mars opposes Pluto a few hours later. Power struggles and old resentments can surface; take your time before reacting.

The Sun opposes Saturn on October 4, testing commitments. Around October 4–5 Mercury enters the shadow of its own coming retrograde. Mercury meets retrograde Venus on October 7 at 8°13′ Scorpio, good for an honest talk about feelings or money, and Mars sextiles Uranus the same day, adding a quick, inventive solution.

October 10–16: the Libra New Moon and Pluto direct

The New Moon on October 10 at 15:50 UTC falls at 17°21′ Libra. It suits intentions about partnership, fairness and agreements, but with Venus retrograde it works best for repairing rather than starting relationships. Venus squares Mars that evening: desire and pride can clash.

The Sun sextiles Jupiter on October 15, a generous and optimistic day. Pluto stations direct on October 16 at 02:40 UTC at 3°04′ Aquarius, and Mars trines Saturn that morning: excellent for disciplined work and long-term plans.

October 17–23: Venus squares Pluto, Scorpio season

Retrograde Venus squares Pluto on October 20, bringing jealousy, control or money questions back to the surface for a second time after the September square. The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 at 09:38 UTC and Scorpio season begins.

October 24–31: Mercury retrograde and the Taurus Full Moon

The Sun meets Venus on October 24 at 0°45′ Scorpio. This inferior conjunction is the midpoint of the Venus retrograde and often clarifies what a relationship or financial situation really needs. Mercury stations retrograde later that morning at 07:13 UTC at 20°58′ Scorpio. Venus moves back into Libra on October 25.

The Full Moon on October 26 at 04:12 UTC at 2°45′ Taurus highlights money, possessions, comfort and self-worth, right on the Venus theme of the month.
